Overview:
The first week of Operation Citadel had been a daily struggle for the 1st SS "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler" (LAH) Panzer Division. Hard combat breaking through the Russian defensive belts had taken a steady toll. As the LAH attacked Prokhorovka from the west, they encountered the elements of the 9th Guards Airborne Division. This appeared to be the last Russian defensive position before the open tank country beyond Prokhorovka.Attacker: German (SS) (Panzer Regiment, 1.
