Overview:
By October of 1942, most of the Westland PzGr Regiment combat teams had been transferred to the newly established Nederland PzGr Brigade 54. The unit was deployed from the Cherkassy areas to the Volkhov forest to reinforce the defending troops in this area against fierce counter attacks of the Leningrad Front’s offensive to relieve Leningrad from encirclement. The Nederlanders of the Waffen-SS would prove their mettle once more, as they had done with the Wiking Division in Russia in 1941, and fight the Russians ‘tooth and nail’.Attacker: Russian (Spearhead of the 2nd Guards Tank Army)
