Overview:

The 29th Infantry Division could feel that the campaign for Brest was reaching a climax but there was still a significant amount of frustration at divisional headquarters with the slow progress and general attrition of trained fighting men from combat losses. Due to casualties and replacements, the “29, Let's Go!” Division was not the same one that had landed at Omaha Beach. While the Germans in the Brest Pocket were being squeezed, General Gerhardt, the Division Commander, knew that there were still fanatical Fallschirmjager in front of him occupying excellent defensive terrain. Once such place was Fort Montbarey, which had stymied the 2/115 for several days. The combination of the fort, artillery, and local counterattacks had caused the Americans significant losses. Something different needed to be tried if the 29th was going to push on to Brest.

2022-01-29(D) Richard Jenulis vs Greg Rodgers German winSnipper sent both US tanks home on turn 1. The Croc got stuck in a minefield, got tired of waiting for the Americans to clear, and risked the attack to leave. However, it lost too much time, so jettisoned the trailer. The game came down to a number of CC on the last turn with a German leader ambush withdrawal for the win.
2020-10-13(D) Andy Bagley vs Neil Brunger German winWe both agreed that this scenario is tough for the Allies - or at least that very accurate play is needed to win.The croc really has to come down the paved road because its trailer can't cross bocage, so the mines, even if visible, provide ample opportunity for delay. I managed to get a full six squads back to the fort, with another also defending the approach, whilst still delaying the Allies so that in the end they just had insufficient time to secure the victory building. An interesting scenario even so though.
2020-06-27(A) Vilis Pavulans vs Kalle Widell American / British win
2017-06-10(D) Stephen dedier vs Reenstra, Dave German winThis is another great defensive scheme scenario. I really had to position troops to fight and fall back well. My minefield slowed one of the Shermans for a bit and I really got a lucky shot on the Croc. Several units held very tough in CC delaying the British advance. It came down to multiple CC in the victory building and some of my units managed to hold out.
2016-03-07(A) mark watson vs Andy Beaton German winClose game -- Germans had a lot of bad luck, but Americans just couldn't cross the ground around the fortress. A lack of rallies in the final turn sealed it up. Very good scenario.
