Overview:

Throughout most of the Second World War, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) was engaged in partisan warfare, first against the Germans, then against the Soviets. The UPA tended to avoid conflict with the Soviet Army, instead focusing their efforts on the much-hated NKVD and Soviet Partisans, who waged a cruel campaign against the UPA and the villages that supported them. In one instance, a small band of Soviet partisan cavalry descended on the small village of Hrabivka, foraging for food and supplies. As they started ransacking the village, the Soviet partisans were set upon by a platoon of Ukrainian partisans and driven away. The next day, the Soviet partisan cavalry attacked in much greater force.

2024-07-14(D) Vic Lauterbach vs TS Ukrainian Partisan winThis fast-playing scenario was a tale of two fights. In the early turns, Trevor couldn't break any MMC but found 3 food parcels. In the late turns, he basically wiped out my force but couldn't find any food parcels. The attacker has tough choices. Some NKVD squads must fight, some must search buildings, and some should ride around the village and intercept the Ukrainian reinforcements. Trevor did the first two very well, but let my reinforcements get into buildings. It ended super close: 31 VP to 19, two short of the +14 advantage he needed to win. Very fun game!
2022-10-23(A) wayne baumber vs Joel Ukrainian Partisan winGreat little scenario, lots of fun. However very dicey so be warned. My Russian partisans swarmed onto the board without loss and soon forced the Ukrainian partisans back, Mr 9-2 leader doing sterling work with one of the smaller kill stacks I have had (LMG 5-2-7 LMG 3-3-7) however the Ukrainian reinforcements arrived just in time to sore up the defence and casualties mounted on both side, helped by my Commissar reducing two squads for failing to rally. Coupled with my utter inability to scrounge food, ( One success out of six buildings searched). meant that I was well behind in VP's needed by the last turn.
2022-10-06(D) Will Willow vs Fred Schwarz Ukrainian Partisan winASLOK 2022.
2022-01-26(D) Tuomo Lukkari vs Oggdeir Drevdal Russian Partisan win[Imported from ROAR]
2021-03-01(D) Jeff B vs Scott Sherer Russian Partisan win3 hrsI agree this started off ok, perhaps even skewed a bit unfairly to my side after I outright killed two squads during the opening moves. Despite a comfortable lead in VPs, by Turn 2 I was already feeling very overwhelmed, and was thankful to receive my substantial reinforcements. At our breaking point halfway through I was still feeling pretty good, but after looking things over before going into our culminating session that feeling had pretty well dissipated. I figured Scott already had enough buildings where he could sit back and search for food, while I was stuck across the western road unable to pose much of a threat. The SSRs basically force stacking to muster any sort of firepower, and facing a commissar and a 9-2 across the way I knew that was battle I did not like my odds in. Then the hot/cold dice kicked in and this this dicey little affair got blown all apart.
