Overview:
After the failed Japanese counterattack in March, the action on Bougainville settled into smaller scale warfare as the Americans probed the enemy from their well-established perimeter. Aerial photographs revealed the presence of a recently built corduroy road to the east of the 132nd Regiment. A Company reinforced by a platoon of jungle-wise Fijian Scouts were dispatched on a ling range reconnaissance patrol in force to search the area. The road was discovered, and the patrol followed it south towards Empress Augusta Bay.Attacker: American (Company A, Americal Division, 132rd Infantry Regiment (Reinforced) and Fijian Scouts)
