Overview:

Manstein's counterattack near Fastov pushed the 3rd Guards Tank Army on to the defensive, but he could not quite deliver a repeat of the “backhand blow” as he had hoped. The new Panther battalions arrived for the attack, but by now the grenadier and fusilier regiments were depleted of veterans after the long retreat to the Dnepr. Thus it would fall to the 1. SS-Panzer-Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler's panzers to force the issue.

2022-08-26(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winDan's Russians spanked me hard. My very first roll was a 12 and it didn't get any better. After Dan ran an SU-85 through a gauntlet of 8 possible Panzerfaust shots and I only got one Faust and then missed...I knew I was going to lose. With both Panthers burning along with the MKIV, I gave the concession. My awful dice rolls robbed me of any fun for this otherwise good scenario. Sometimes it just goes that way. Good win for Dan!
2021-03-05(A) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall German (SS) win4.75 hrsI chose a hard eastern attack, sending my infantry to scout ahead for the two guns, with a MG force behind to make Russian repositioning difficult. I was halfway across the board by Turn 3, having just knocked out the two tanks that were HD behind the walls. but had to commit an inordinate amount of attention to my eastern flank to guard against reinforcing Russian tanks. I sufficiently scared them from entering too close to me, and next turn I continued my push under cover of lots of SD-generated smoke. The AA gun had shown its face slightly out of position, only to have its crew blasted to bits. The squad that assumed gun duty certainly wasn't prepared, x-ing it out soon after. Other than an annoying 9-1 and 4-5-8 rallying directly in my path, Turn 5 went very smoothly for me. I knocked the rallied Russians back to the dirt, eliminated the two T-34s that were in my path, and dealt with the few remaining infantry standing between me and the goal line. With only a sole squad/mortar on that part of the board (with a Panther in its face), the Russians threw in the towel.

Turned into a box car contest as I gacked two start rolls and a couple of MA shots. Opponent also had several boxcars. Had a late game chance but couldnt get a PF or Tiger shot to land...
2019-08-28(A) Paolo Cariolato vs Federico Corso German (SS) winGreat scenario. Lost both panthers but managed to exit a tiger and infantry to fulfill VC.
