Overview:
Luftwaffe "field divisions" were the brainchildren of Hermann Goring. Only half the size of a regular Heer division even at full strength, several Luftwaffe field divisions were stretched along the lines of Army Group North during the siege of Leningrad. Initially equipped with strong 88mm FlaK batteries, these guns were re-assigned to the defense of the Reich, further weakening the Luftwaffe divisions. The Red Army was able to identify positions held by Field-Divisions 9 and 10 and attacked those weak spots in the lines of General Lindemann's 18th Army.Attacker: Russian (2nd Shock Army)
