Overview:
At Ninggang, Zhu De brought his forces together with Mao's 1st Army to form the 4th Worker's and Peasant's Army. Zhu and Mao then laid the framework for the first independent communist region. Eventually as they recruited more men, some of the local warlords took notice of their growing competition in the Red Army. Zhu-Mao divided the army into the 4th Army and the 5th Army. The 4th Army moved out, leaving the 5th Army to defend the Soviet base for as long as they could before following the 4th Army. The 5th Army came under attack by the warlord Wu Shang and his Hunan Chinese troops.Attacker: Red Chinese (5th Worker's and Peasant's Army)
