Overview:
The war in Lapland had taken on a start and stop manner. The distances that men and machines had to travel were far too difficult to maintain for long and so the enemies would prepare for and then execute attacks with limited objectives. As the general Soviet winter offensive of 1941-1942 elsewhere was petering out, the Soviet offensive in Lapland was just getting started. The Russians led off with ski troops to occupy the Germans' attention, and then landed Marines behind them in an amphibious landing. This could have spelled disaster for the Germans as the Russians were driving on the major supply base of Pechanga.Attacker: Russian (5th and 6th Ski Brigades)
Defender: German (Gebirgsjäger-Division 6)

| 2022-03-13 | (A) Bob McKenna | vs | Robert Kroczynski | Russian win | Slugged it out, slow moving in the snow. Snow started in turn 3 stopped in turn 5. Russians flanked left and slowly made way past until the reinforcements showed up. German held for a while until a feint assault at the middle of the line, freed the left to breakthrough. CC on the left sent 2 squads through. Germans made it closer than it should have been hy pursuing the other two squad who continued through on the left to victory in turn 7. Elite troops on both sides would not budge. Snow and slow movement made it a slug fest to remember. | ||
