Overview:
German intelligence reports revealed on September 23rd that the main Russian attack on Hungary would come across the Northern plans, near Deberecen. As Russian tanks and cavalry streaked across the border south of Arad, many Hungarian front-line units fled before 57th Panzer Korps could bring reserves into position. Thus, it was up to Hungarian artillery and rear-area units to fend for themselves against Maninovky’s steam-roller. Some faired surprisingly well, buying time at key road junctions and river crossings.Attacker: Russian (203rd Rifle Division and 1037th Self-Propelled Regiment)
