Overview:
Leaving their heavy equipment and vehicles behind, members of Kampfgruppe Peiper knew it was time to get back to their own lines in the waning hours of Christmas Eve. Peiper's 800 men timed their movement with the expected withdrawal of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and this went off without much activity, as the 505th PIR was trying to avoid the delay a firefight would cause. Unfortunately for the men of the 1st SS, Lt. Col. Shanley's 508th PIR was much more willing to stay and fight, and around midnight some hammering by Germans attempting to repair the bridge across the Salm alerted them to the attack.Attacker: German (SS) (Kampfgruppe Peiper, SS Panzer-Division 1)
Defender: American (508th PIR, 82nd Airborne Division)

2021-12-20 | (D) Simon Staniforth | vs | German (SS) win | US exited 3VP it would have been more but the German sniper took out the US 9-1 leader and an accompanying key squad with MMG failed it’s LLMC and never came back. Repositioned to have the Germans bottled up in the NE corner of the in the endgame but they managed a last turn run around the pond surviving 9 Def Fire shots to exit the 9-2, a squad and 2 crews for a winning 9VP. Close game, some of the terrain is hard to move through with Straying and advancing to become CX featuring
2021-03-07 | (D) Kevin Duval | vs | Dwayne Duval | American win | Used German balance. Americans created a Hero & then Battle Hardened the 9-1 Leader who then also became Heroic, the end result was an impressive 'kill stack' with both MGs in it that the Germans could not get past.
2021-03-06 | (A) Dwayne Duval | vs | Kevin Duval | American win | The Americans dominated immediately, moving into a great defense opposite the bridge.
2019-04-11 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Roy Connelly | Draw | 3.25 hrs | This seemed like an interesting concept. Two sides entering the board, both cloaked and having to make it across to exit. Being the Germans and moving first, I thought I had a brilliant plan to funnel his moves through the forested hills east of the stream. That plan was shot to shit however when my units immediately got lost in the dark. My plan was to run the low-FP/high-VP crews off the board ASAP, while the rest of my force provided a defensive screen. By Turn 3 it really looked like this was going to be a dud, as my units raced across the board unhindered and figured to exit the next turn. We ended up with opposing lines running NE-SW that looked like a Civil War face-off. Who would break through first? I got off as many units as I could before he shut the door, and it was up to me to prevent any of his from doing the same. But he had gained control of the woods, blocking me from being able to do much. There were very few shots, and the first casualties (two German HS) weren't taken until the end of Turn 6. The Americans only ended up losing one HS a turn later. My last turn's movement was a non-factor as he had blocked my way with bodies, and we actually ended up with an ASL rarity - a tie. This scenario looked much more interesting on paper than it played. It ended up being quite boring and not the good introduction to night that I thought it would be.
2017-08-04 | (A) Martí Cabré | vs | Solo | Draw | Americans used the stream to advance but when closing in with the Germans a strike of bad morale checks left everybody broken. |
