Overview:
As the veteran troops of the Japanese 5th Infantry Division pushed down the Malay peninsula, the 11th Indian Division opposing it was forced to amalgamate several units from the battered 6th Brigade into the 15th Brigade, creating the composite “British” and “Jat/Punjab” battalions. The 16th Brigade spent a week digging in astride the Trunk Road north of the tin-mining center of Kampar. As the Japanese neared the Kampar position, the IJA 41st Regiment attacked down the road on January 1st, but despite initial success, it was beaten back with heavy losses. The next morning, the 41st renewed its assault.Attacker: Japanese (41st Infantry Regiment)
