Overview:
Delayed by weather, an attack, spearheaded by the Hungarian 2nd Armored Division commenced on April 17th. The offensive was heralded by Stuka attacks and the exhausted and over-extended Soviets offered limited resistance, despite the presence of armor and artillery. The assault made steady progress over the first few days with objectives being secured. On the 20th, the Hungarian 16th Infantry Division supported by the 1st Motorized Brigade invested the town of Ottynia.
