Overview:

Northeast of Geilenkirhcen, the 43rd Infantry Division was advancing on a route parallel with that of the American 84th Infantry Division. The evening of the 18th found D Company, 5th Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry consolidating their position after seizing a toehold on the village of Bruggerhof. Major Londsdale set about getting the company dug in to meet the inevitable German counterattack. At 1500, the 104th Panzergrenadier Regiment, supported by three assault guns, struck the Cornwalls.

2025-03-09(A) Simon Staniforth vs SB German winThe StuGs did for the Shermans fairly quickly and without them to support the infantry the British defence was gradually ground down
2025-02-21(A) Peter Palmer vs Steve Cook British winFriday Night Fight 21 February
I like this scenario despite the result. Started out with 2 successful Smoke shots on his forward defensive positions, but the CC were just brutal My First CC involved my 9-2 and a 548 versus his 457, I ambushed so had a -3 and I still whiffed (Mistake there as I should have gone H2H once I had the ambush and advanced out.). Before I had another chance, the British sniper took out the 9-2 (of course). In the meantime Steve's 6 pounder in 42Y1 had taken out the Ostwind and immobilised one of my StuGs in a position he was effectively out of the game.
I ran out of Infantry and time in the end. In retrospect, I had the right idea but I failed to protect against the ATG and my MCs and CC were abysmal. Well Played By Steve, he bided his time and ended up winning well. I'd play it again, for sure as I think the Germans have several options to try. The issue is the on the Western approach - you need to send as many Hs scouts there to flush out the ATG as possible. and not be quite so aggressive with the placement of your AFVs in the open centre of board 42. That's a Kill zone.

Definitely not a single pathway to victory.
2024-11-15(A) Paul Legg vs Alan Hume German winBounding First Fire - Friendly
2023-06-23(A) David Ramsey vs Andy Bagley German winAndy sums up the game well in his report - but he was unlucky with his AT gun, and I was lucky to take out his Carrier on the second shot (Intensive firing) of the game. It was close but a very enjoyable scenario that I recommended to others over the weekend.
