Overview:

At about 0930 on 4 August, Col. Paul Disney’s 67th Armored Regiment passed through St. Sever Calvados onto a major road leading to Vire. Running parallel to the road was the forest of St. Sever with groves of fruit trees along the fringes. After helping their infantry escorts into position, veteran panzermen Joachim Schlomka and Fritz Langanke drove their two Panthers into an apple orchard and waited. The tired panzer crews peered through their vision slits as the American column advanced through the morning fog. Langanke’s first shot missed the lead Sherman, but he dispatched the next two with only one round apiece. The equally tired landsers were soon in a running battle with the GIs of the 41st Armored Infantry

2023-12-12(A) Andy Bagley vs Neil Brunger American winLots of movement and plenty of options for both sides in this one. Overwhelming American firepower BUT they need to get lots of units off and capture two victory buildings whilst facing two Panthers that start HIP.
I knew their start area though, so concentrated my attack in the east where there is more bocage cover anyway, and used the obvious tactic of assembling as many troops as I could to all rush off the board on my last turn - helped by smoke from the sM's. And it worked - but only just! It took until American turn 7 for me to capture both of the victory buildings, and better shooting by the Panthers (some unlucky DRs here) might have seen a different result.

2018-07-22(D) Vic Lauterbach vs ML American winAn exciting combined arms fight with lots of tactical options for both sides. The Panthers and the PSKs punished the US armor, but my infantry couldn't hold either building, and that huge VP boost put the GIs over the top for the win. This one is a blast to play, but keep your bocage QR card handy!
