Overview:
The German 3rd Battalion, Infanterie Regiment 194 fought through Stalingrad’s suburbs, the Main Railway Station, Red Square, and finally to within sight of the Volga. Their rapid advance across the cratered landscape and the fierce resistance the neighboring battalions ran into, left them isolated. Captain Münch ordered his last able-bodied fifteen fighters into a U-shaped house and neighboring buildings. On the top floor he could see the ferry landings, the umbilical cords of Soviet resistance. Sensing the inevitable counterattack, Münch set his men to work gathering every piece of wood and stone to fortify the buildings.Attacker: Russian (NKVD)/Russian (42nd Guards Regiment, 13th Guards Rifle Division / 10th NKVD Division)
