Overview:
The Russian plan for late November called for a major push south of Budapest, across the Danube to Lake Balaton, to cut off the Hungarian capital from the west. General Malinovsky ordered the 46th Army to cross the Danube near Ercsi and push to the northwest. This assault did not go well with many units suffering heavy losses. Despite strong forces having crossed the river, the Russians were in a precarious position for a number of days. An attack by the Hungarian 10th Assault Artillery Battalion starting from the west of the village of Baracska, pushed the Russians back almost to the river. A battery of the 1st Assault Artillery Battalion, claiming it was not being properly used in its current operation, joined the attack.Attacker: Hungarian (Elements of 10th Assault Artillery Battalion)
