Overview:
On the evening of April 12th, unknown German forces were scouted to be in possession of the small Italian village of Antanagna, situated in a small valley. That night, two platoons of the 2nd Battalion, 442nd RCT would maneuver during the night around the village so the German force would hopefully be in the middle. After carefully infiltrating into the valley, both platoons found themselves under fire once at the outskirts of the village. The village was far too strongly held to be taken by their small forces, so they settled in for the night in order to gain more information at day break. After dawn, the German force was found to be a German company and three half-tracks which promptly pulled out of the village. Upon entering the village, the men of E Company found the inhabitants of Antanagna quite a pitiful site, nearly starved, who's last food and belongings had left with the Germans. Unfortunately, the Germans were not in the least ready to give up the village without a fight. By the end of the day, the Germans had attacked twice, each time coming within inches of forcing E Company back into the hills.Attacker: German (Not disclosed)
Defender: American (E Company, 2nd Battalion, 442nd RCT, 92nd Infantry Division)
