Overview:
The situation in the Philippines was not going well for the USAFFE. The American forces were slowly being pushed down the Bataan Peninsula. A weak spot was found in the center of the American lines and the Japanese established defensive pockets a 1000 yards behind the American main line of resistance. “Big Pocket” cut Trail 7 and could cause serious problems for the Americans. After closing the breech, a platoon of tanks supported by a platoon of the 45th Infantry (Philippine Scouts) was ordered to drive up Trail 7 and dislodge the Japanese. . .Attacker: Filipino / American (Elements I/45th Infantry Regt {Philippine Scouts}; Co. A, 192nd Tank Battalion)
Defender: Japanese (Elements III/20th Infantry Regt, 16th Infantry Division)

2024-02-03 | (A) Nate Gregg | vs | J. Boord | D | Japanese win (VASL Log) | Played as part of the Central Illinois ASL Club's monthly gameday, although Tim and I were the only ones who could make it. A good little scenario to cut your teeth on PTO if you haven't played PTO. The Central Illinois ASL Club selected this scenario because it was a February 3rd scenario. I played the Americans and probably exited one of my tanks too early. It came down to the last roll which ended up pinning my 3-4-7 HS which could have tied up the final Japanese squad and his LMG in melee. 1LT Bianchi was killed along with 5 other Filipino scouts in CC, despite ambushing their enemy. Perhaps his CMoH was downgraded to a SS or even a Certificate of Achievement. LOL In the Log, you will probably see that the final shots used improper DRMs which means A.2 was applied! | |
