Overview:

In late summer 1942, the Russians launched the Siniavino Offensive, designed to cut the German encirclement south of Lake Ladoga. The Eighth Army launched its attack on the 27th, striking towards a link up with the Leningrad Front in the area of the Neva River. Fearing this threat, the German 5th Mountain and 28th Jaeger Divisions were moved into the key village of Siniavino, whose heights controlled the entire region. As a measure of the area’s importance, the Germans utilized four recently arrived Tiger tanks in its defense.

2022-05-24(D) Dave Mareske vs Dennis Dowd Russian winThe Russians got a CH on one of the Tigers and another one bogged trying to get around the flank. The Russians withdrew, kept concealment and out of lines of fire for the most part. The Germans ran out of time to take the required buildings.
2022-05-21(A) Dave Mareske vs Phillip Wethington German winGermans pushed hard on their right flank and got lucky on some THs with their Tigers. The Russian AFVs did not get off a successful hit, but for the first two turns where keeping the German infantry either broken or pinned, thus they were making slow progress. After the last AFV went down to the Tigers there was not anything to stop the Tigers from cutting lines of retreat and forcing the Russians to fight; eventually all the Russians broke and they had to take one building back.
2022-05-07(D) Richard Jenulis vs Richard King German winChicago Open (Round 6). The Germans took no losses. I was totally diced. The VASL stats had the Russians in red for every category except TH and MC. The Germans were in green or dark green for all categories. TH DR followed by duds, HoB results in surrender, you get the picture. Sometime you just have a game like this.
