Overview:

After an extremely successful summer campaign, the Germans came upon the Volga fortress of Stalingrad. Here the Red army had dug in and was determined to make a stand. Sensing total victory, the Germans threw more and ever more troops into the fighting. But for the first time in the war, German infantry found the Russians their equal. Rebuffed by stiff resistance, the Germans committed crack assault engineers. Gradually, the Germans cleared one block, then another—only to lose them again to sudden Russian counterattacks. By October 5, the Germans had almost taken the key Dzerhezinsky Tractor Works. However, the fighting had been so heavy that the line troops occupying the surrounding area were exceptionally weak from the previous week’s combat. At that point, the Russians counterattacked with their crack 37th Guards to break the ring the Germans had thrown around the factory and reinforce the desperate defenders.

2019-04-08(D) Paul Synnott vs Solo German winPlayed while following Jim Stahler's ASL programmed instruction method, so not all rules used. Russians did well at first, easily taking the F56 building, but were thrown out again. The got a foothold in the K5 building, but it wasn't enough.
2018-03-19(D) Scott Sherer vs D. Bruce Weston German winClassic scenario and a great learning scenario for someone just picking up full ASL. Teaching a co-worker the game, and this was the second in his foray into full ASL (Gavin Take was the first) after some ASLSK play. He was the Russians and got very aggressive in Turn 1, learning that taking 6(-2) and 8(-2) shots was not conducive to the health of his troops. He recovered and ended up pressed his attack, ending up taking three buildings from the Germans at one point. However, a determined German counterattack took one of the buildings back, and several good results in Turn 4B CCPh sealed the game for the Germans.
2015-01-16(A) Seumas Hoskins vs Russian win
2014-03-05(A) Martí Cabré vs Eloi Soler German winInstead of softening the Germans with prep fire, I tried to rush all the Russian units forward in Turn 1 but the German fire was devastating across the streets and got a number of KIAs that simply won the scenario. Only the Russian sniper managed to break some German units before I conceded.
