Overview:

After the landing at Namsos, the British goal was to push south to retake Trondheim. Contact with the Norwegians was planned at Verdalsora where a strategic bridge over the Inna River was defended by a detachment of Norwegian Dragoons equipped with heavy machine guns and supported by a Royal Engineers platoon. On the morning of 21 April, a German destroyer landed a company of Gebirgsjägers on the shore of the Beitdsfjord, north of Verdalsora, while other elements coming from Trondheim attacked along the road.

2025-03-15(A) Jobbo Fett vs RootinPutin German winIt feels like the Norwegians must set up their defenses forward in order to prevent any movement across the bridge for as long as possible. This is hampered by the fact that the Germans get early reinforcements that get the circumvent the natural obstacle. Lucky smoke and cautious movement allowed me to cross with most of my force on turn one, which blew the floodgates open on gaining ground and pressuring the Norwegians. Norwegians probably deserve the balance on this one.

2023-05-13(D) Craig Renier vs Tim Osborne Norwegian / British winThe Germans led off with smoke from the mortar on 2 of 3 Allied positions covering the bridge. Unfortunately, the 3rd position was able to hold back the German assault across the bridge. OBA was ineffective due to tough LOS with the radio setup. In the meantime, the German force entering from the North were stymied by fire lanes and a couple well placed low rolls. The Germans were able to eventually cross the bridge in force, but the delay was substantial. The allies whittled down the attacking force eventually gaining 12 CVP at the end of Turn 5.
