Overview:
With the Soviet Union now in the war against them, those Polish units still in the field had only two alternatives: surrender to the Germans or Russians, or flight into the neighboring neutrals of Rumania or Hungary. Just miles north of the Hungarian border, Polish cavalry came under fire from Russian forces. With sabres drawn and lances leveled, the cavalrymen commenced their gallop to freedom. . .Attacker: Polish (25th Uhlan Regiment / 27th Uhlan Regiment)
Defender: Russian (72nd Rifle Division / 24th Light Tank Brigade)

2024-08-03 | (D) Jobbo Fett | vs | RootinPutin | Russian win | Came down to the wire around Polish Turn 6 after, in my opinion, too many Polish units were evacuated early and left the Russians with enough troops to cut off the retreat of the last few VP required to win. There was a neat attempt at having the Wagons infiltrate on the opposite side of the map which generated a few worthwhile VP when they made it off-board, but overall this scenario feels bad to play. If the Russians don't set up well enough, or don't get their artillery (Mortars) it becomes that much harder to prevent the Poles from smashing through. There's something to be said as well for having 3 ATRs against the terrible selection of Russian ACs. Not a particularly fun scenario, and ours was tense only due to some selective rolling by dicebot!

2019-07-31 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | Polish win | Poles have two choices - cross open ground before the infantry arrives or pass through a wheatfield under fire from 4 AC. I chose the wheatfield. My ATR were well positioned for the arrival of the AC and took out 2 quickly (1 immobilised and abandoned, one destroyed). The Russians also drew two red chits straight up for their artillery - no help there. The poles also took care of the last 2 AC before they left - one in CC and one with an ATR round PB in the rear.
