Overview:

By nightfall of June 22nd, the German V Infantry Corps had broken through the Soviet border defenses and established a bridgehead across the Nieman River some 40 miles away. Later that night a bridging column of the 5th Infantry Division was ambushed while passing a forest near Seirijai – and soon afterward it was reported that intermittent fighting against armed civilians, both near the forest and in the town, was blocking the main road to the bridgehead. Thinking the resistance could comprise no more than a few lightly armed civilians and Red Army stragglers, an infantry company attempted to clear the woods at dawn the next day but was solidly rebuffed, as were a second and later a third company thrown in to reinforce it. So on the next morning, following a bombardment by an entire artillery battalion, two infantry battalions attempted to flush out the enemy while elements of a third sealed off the forest edges to prevent any escape.

2024-10-27(D) S. Slunt vs Tim Osborne Russian / Partisan winEven though the Bombardment only missed 3 rows, the Russians and Partisans were fairly unscathed. With the cautious German attack most of the Russians/Partisans broken were able to recover before the Germans arrived.
2020-11-30(A) Jason Nichols vs Eric Topp Russian / Partisan winPlayed with Russian balance. Germans took a pounding initially from hidden gun that eliminated a stack with RoF shots. Germans pushed up right flank and captured three entrenchments but failed to inflict enough casualties on the defenders who melted away into the woods. Didn't really know how to deploy the Kubelwagons with the AT guns. Lost one to a charge across open ground because I failed to provide infantry support. In the end the Germans ran out of time.
2020-09-17(D) Macari Samuel vs Jean-Carlo Debolle German winA very bad Russian setup and loss of 9-2 leader and two squads during pregame bombardment allowed an easy German win at the end of turn 3 ! Bad memory.
2019-10-05(A) Michael Rodgers vs Ben Lootens German winRussian player was still learning ASL. Germans reached the 25 VP after four turns.
2019-03-06(A) Shane Pask vs German winInitial bombardment rubbled 3 houses - 2 with partisans and leaders in = instant 10VP. The Russians still held off until the last German turn thanks to a commissar armed with an ATR and the 9-2 with a .50cal. I finally captured 7 of the 10 foxholes. My sniper kept harassing a broken squad (when he bothered to do anything), while the Russian sniper immobilised two cars, killed one AT crew (broke twice) and broke another crew once.
