Overview:
The fighting in Urga had been raging for over three months. Baron Ungern's White Russian forces, the Asiatic Cavalry Division (AKD), had stopped all Chinese supplies from getting through. The Chinese formed a relief force of battle-hardened troops with artillery to attempt to reach Urga. The relief force was to move to Ude and then march or Urga. Urga fell before the Chinese could fully form the relief force. Ungern then learned about the relief force and moved to take Ude. The Mongolians believed that the spirit of Genghis Khan lived in Ungern and helped him to quickly get to Ude. The Chinese garrison at Ude was preparing to welcome the relief force and were not fully prepared to fight. As the Chinese were entering from the south, the White Russians attacked from the north.Attacker: White Russian (1st and 2nd Brigades, Asiatic Cavalry Division)
