Overview:

When General Hobart Gay of the American 1st Cavalry Division learned on August 9th, that the North Korean 7th Regiment had crossed the Naktong in battalion strength and seized Hill 268, he countered by sending the 7th Cavalry Regiment and a tank company of the 71st Heavy Tank Battalion to charge the hill after the 61st Field Artillery Battalion shelled it. This first attack was repulsed that afternoon. With many cavalry troopers downed by heat exhaustion, Gay decided to wait until the next day to coordinate air and artillery strikes with another attack against the hill.
Attacker: American (1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division and 71st Heavy Tank Battalion)
