Overview:
During the afternoon, a reconnaissance of M.E. 110s flew over the bridge crossings and undeniably confirmed that this was a major Allied crossing of the Seine. The commander of the German 49th Division dispatched his two reserve battle groups, Schrader and Meyer. The former was concentrated to the northeast at Tilly, and consisted of four infantry companies, supported by three Tiger tanks.
