Overview:

Many of the Japanese troops defending Clark Field were less than front-line quality. Lieutenant Colonel Seikuke Eguchi, however, scrounged for them every available machine gun from the destroyed aircraft littering the runways. As the remains of Kembu Group were being pushed into the foothills of the Zambales Mountains, Eguchi decided to counterattack. After clearing Clark Field, the “Battling Buckeyes” of the 37th pushed into the ruins of Fort Scotsenberg. On the morning of the 29th, Eguchi’s infantry hit the American defenses, and were repulsed. Another counterattack led by six tanks of the Yanagimoto Detachment struck the right flank at Barrio Tacondo.

2023-10-10(D) Rob Schmitt vs Mitch Davis American win I was US defender vs Japanese attacker. VP was for Japanese player to capture greater than 22 buildings. Combined infantry and tanks in both attack and defense. Tanks were evenly matched in FP and To Kill. Japanese player was very aggressive with his tanks early and lost two fairly quickly to bazookas. His infantry attack did take the central area of buildings but paid he paid dearly during a multi-unit banzai attack against Machine gun positions. He was unable to press any further south or east into the additional buildings needed to gain VPs. By turn 5 he had only 1 tank left and too many infantry casualties to sustain the attack any further and conceded.
