Overview:
In the wake of the Liberation of Paris, the 3rd Armored Division poured across the river Seine at Tilly, thanks to an existing bridge, and a new one built by XX Corps engineers. The division’s two main Combat Commands (A and B) immediately deployed into multiple spearheads and pushed northeast, advancing several miles. Forward units of the 33rd Armored Regiment were laagered overnight in a quiet grove east of the town of Corbiel when, at first light, the peace of the early morning was shattered as units of the Reconnaissance Company were suddenly subjected to a vicious attack. Jolted awake, panic ensued among the “doughs” as a platoon of Mark IVs and a scratch kampfgruppe of infantry attacked from the east.Attacker: German (48. Infanterie-Division and 9. Panzer Division)
Defender: American (Reconnaissance Co., 33rd Armored Regiment, Combat Command B, 3rd Armored Division)

2025-01-22 | (D) Paul Works | vs | Tom Meier | American win | Germans rolled over up-front U.S. half-squads, but one 3-4-7 and the 7-0 leader slipped past the cordon. The SSR negating FFMO allowed American troops to rout across streets where normally they might have had to surrender - this because the SSR wording negated such hexes as being Open Ground for rout purposes... As a result, significant U.S. infantry were able to consolidate with the 9-2 in/around the church and other nearby VC building. As the American player, I immediately unloaded the crews and multiple MGs from the two halftracks - significantly increasing the U.S. firepower. the German tanks caused issues, but the German Infantry could not dig the Americans out. When the U.S. armor arrived, the German tanks were sequentially destroyed. One Pz IV made it through the fight, but the German infantry could not capture the buildings from the nasty 9-2 and multiple 667s with MMGs and .50cal HMG.

2022-03-18 | (A) Dave Mareske | vs | Rick Reinesch | American win | Killed the last German tank on the final turn by rolling a 4 to hit. Tough fight all the way through though.
2022-02-28 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Dennis Dowd | American win | Germans were aggressive with two tanks right from the start and lost them both in CC with the US 9-2 leader. The Germans ended up taking two buildings but by they the Americans had two HMGs in the last building along with a MMG and three squads and two crews. Even with SMOKE the building became a fortress and the Germans were not able to rout them out.
2022-01-06 | (A) Andy Bagley | vs | Gordon Jupp | American win | Very astute defence by the Americans: they basically withdrew from two of the three victory buildings (although not without losses) to concentrate on the defence of building 53R6. By the time I was ready to attack this stronghold, his tanks had arrived in support and two of my tanks (the two that mattered) were out of Smoke. I had some good shots (and lots of boxcars, but mostly from the blaze in the orchard, which didn't matter), and advanced towards the southern side of this key building quite successfully. But I failed to establish any strength north of the building, meaning I couldn't bring fire to bear on 53S7. And I had taken losses too, so by the start of Turn 6 I had lost two tanks to his three; but I had only 3.5 unbroken squads remaining, and they were poorly situated, whilst a more powerful American force still occupied that building. A German win might have been theoretically possible, but it would have taken a miracle, so I conceded. |
