Overview:

The 5th Marines had kicked in the door to Seoul; it was now up in large part to Chesty Puller's 1st Marines to clear it. The enemy for its part was determined to make this a slow and laborious process, so as to enable as many of its units to escape the encircling UN forces. The enemy based his defense on Seoul on an endless series of barricades, which were constructed across the major thoroughfares of the city, and guarded by heavy machineguns, anti-tank guns and minefields strung out to their front. The main artery into the city Ma Po Boulevard would have to be cleared of such, a task which fell to the 2nd and 3rd Battalions. Meanwhile, the 1st Battalion would have to work its way over a small hill complex and down into the rail yards to begin to seize the other portions of the city. . .

Defender: North Korean (Seoul City Regiment, the 78th Independent Infantry Regiment and 25th Infantry Brigade, along with elements of the 111th Security Regiment, 513th Artillery Regiment, 10th Railroad Regiment and 17th Rifle Division)
