Overview:
Now that the Americans had a firm grip on "the Rock" it was time to finish clearing out the hundreds of Japanese still dug into caves, pillboxes, trenches, gun batteries, ravines and spiderholes all over Topside. The Americans would need to utilize every available weapon including naval gunfire to blast the stubborn defenders out of their hiding places, or seal them in for all eternity.Attacker: American (503rd Regimenta Combat Team, 3-34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, and 603rd tank Battalion)
