Overview:

The Amwerican offensive on 2 November initially sparked very little activity on the German side. The 89th Division was in the process of being relieved by the 272nd Volksgrenadier Division, and all battalions of the 1055th Regiment were on the move. General Bruns, the 89th Division Commander, was at Kilometer Marker 18 to supervise the movement of his units when he learned that enemy forces were advancing on Kommersheidt. He found two companies of Russian Volunteer Regiment 4 and ordered the commander to stop any enemy penetration on Schmidt. Meanwhile, the 3rd Battalion of the American 112th Infantry Regiment was tasked with taking Schmidt. On 3 November, Company K had moved from Kommersheidt and occupied the southwestern area of Schmidt around 1400. Company L, advancing to the east of Company K, was ordered to clear the village.

2024-06-10(A) Jeff Wright vs Chris Hofland German winIt was a tough day for the boys from Pennsylvania. As expected they started taking fire as they entered the town, with one scouting HS getting vaporized and a couple squads breaking, including they guys hauling the HMG and they accompanying 9-1 leader. Then the German conscripts would lay down some vicious fire, break several squads, and unfortunately, as would hold for most of the rest of the game, they didn't prove that resilient and come back quickly. The Americans would return fire to no effect. This would play out consistently the rest of the game. The Germans would shoot up the Americans both during Prep and Defensive Fire Phases, the Americans would break, who ever was left would shoot wildly for no effect, and it would take forever for boys from the Keystone state to get back in the fight. They did manage to break a few of the German squads, take some prisoners, and take out a few in NQ, but not enough to put the Germans on their heels. The Americans finally made it up the hill around T3/4 and there was some hope of success, as they seemed to be getting their act together. Then the misfortune repeated itself as they made a final push before night started to fall. With most of their force in disarray, they decided to quit with night closing in before T6.

2018-01-11(D) Stephen dedier vs Reenstra, Dave American winThis is a tough job for the Germans. I have never played the 6 morale conscripts and certainly not with an ELR of 1. That means you only have a 27.8% chance of remaining unpinned or unbroken for a NMC. You have a 27.8% chance of an ELR on a NMC. Any shot against you can be disaster. Lets just say there was a lot of 'disruption'.

I like the multiple options for victory conditions. When a sniper broke my HMG position I really should have immediately switched to jumping in and trying to get CVP against the Americans. I tried a fighting w/d but was overwhelmed. I made several other mistakes and allowed the Americans to concentrate too much.
Overall a fun one and I learned a lot and would play my defense differently next time.
