Overview:

With the failed counterattack to keep the defensive positions near ‘Woodpecker Ridge" and at the Wawa Dam, the Shimbu Group was reeling from the renewed offensive by the 38th Infantry Division. The 38th Division was tasked with securing the area nearby and relentlessly pursued the Kobayashi Group, once a divisional-size fighting force, now fragmented and in a headlong retreat north and east from the dam. Mopping up a considerable force could still be dangerous work when contact was made.
Attacker: American (Elements of 151st Infantry Regiment, 38th Division)
