Overview:

Tula was an important road junction in order to enter Moscow from the south. Due to the muddy conditions in the preceding days, most of the German wheeled vehicles became mired, forcing the Großdeutschland infantry to ride on panzers. These delays allowed the Tula Workers Regiment and the 732nd Air Defense Brigade to prepare. The Germans attacked Tula at dawn on October 30th. Progress was slow but steady. However at mid-afternoon, the 32nd Tank Brigade arrived on the battlefield with T-60s and a few T-34s and KV-1s. They immediately engaged the panzers, which bogged down the entire German assault. The Germans fell back and prepared for another attack which would be focused on the large Vsekhsviatsky Cemetery.
