Overview:

The Poles of the 1st Armoured Division settled north of Chambois at Montormel, a hill overlooking the Vimoutiers road. The Poles saw long German columns progressing westward, trying to break out. The situation of the Poles worsened when a regiment of the 2nd SS Panzer-Division counter-attacked. For three days, the Poles fought without re-supply and faced waves of desperate German soldiers.

2024-02-28(A) O Ramaille vs Pascal BoileauA Polish winA strange scenario where the German Panzers may easily run to the exit and win quickly past the dispersed Polish defense. This was the plan for the Germans. Unfortunately, the Tiger II broke its MA and was finally recalled. At that moment, the German forces tried to eliminate all Polish concentrated defense in the hill area. The 3 Sherman tanks as the PIAT teams were eliminated but at the cost of 2 panzers. The German infantry assault lacked efficiency and broke too easily. Polish infantry was still strong in the victory areas. Not an easy one for the German attackers with the cruel hope of a safe exit balanced with the need to hunt down all Polish defenders.
