Overview:
Leutnant Von Renesse was ordered to reconnoiter the area east of Radekhov to determine the Soviet intentions. Von Renesse moved out with five PzIIIs, one of which had a non-operational 37mm main gun. No far from Radekhov, Von Renesse’s platoon soon encountered four Soviet tanks that were not listed on German vehicle recognition charts. Von Renesse’s gunner fired a 50mm armor piercing round that ricocheted off one of the lead Soviet tanks.
