Overview:

"The Lions of Belfort" -- - -The offensive launched on 14th November by General De Lattre towards Belfort completely surprised the Germans, and by the 18th, the troops of General Bethouart’s 1st Corps had reached their initial goals. The lead elements were a cadre of different Commando groups, called the Gambiez Group. These elite troops approached Belfort from the north and while engineers tried to open a passage for the tanks, the Commandos continued to harass the defenders holed up in their fortifications. After an hour’s delay, The Commandos d’Afrique silently stormed the enemy positions, surprising some Germans in their sleep. In an act of daring, the company of Capt. Metivier entered the suburb of Cravanche and even pushed a squad into Belfort proper, but this was forced to retreat after causing much damage to the Germans. The garrison, now alert, reacted to the incursion. At 1100, supported by a few self-propelled guns, a German battalion assaulted the Metivier company, now hastily entrenched in Cravanche. The Commandos could barely stand up to the Germans because of their superior firepower. When, about 1500 they seemed obliged to surrender, help arrived in the form of tanks from the Chasseurs d’Afrique and the men of the Shock Battalion. - - - -Victory Conditions: The German player wins if they control > 1 multi-hex building on Board 45 and have caused more CVP than suffered.
Attacker: German (Reinforced elements 189th Infantry Division)

2020-05-01(D) O Ramaille vs François Trebosc Free French winMy French commandos resisted the German assault. The German managed to control two multihex buildings in my right wing but suffered too much casualties. The attack is not so easy for the Germans in front of fearless French commandos entrenched in stone buildings despite getting 3 Stugs. The French armored cavalry with 5 Shermans and squads mounted as riders arrived in reinforcements. With the elimination of 2 Stugs versus 1 Sherman, things got worse for the Germans. The CVP difference was too great to change in the remaining turn. The German conceded. A scenario slightly in favour of the Frenchs.
