During the confused aftermath of the second series of great Soviet winter counteroffensives, the Germans found themselves able to retake recently lost territory using elite troops to better the Soviet numerical superiority and dug-in positions. Thus, tactically, the attacking force was to creep up to enemy positions, in order to attack instantly at dawn.
Attacker: German (Assault Groups 8 & 9, Grossdeutschland Panzergrenadier Division and elements of the "Junge Lowen" (Young Lions) Assault Group)
