Overview:

By early evening Volksgrenadier Regiment 916 had command of the heights in the Our/Sûre triangle and Volksgrenadier Regiment 914 taking up its place in the centre of the division’s line, could begin to make more headway. The US 109th Regiment with Colonel Rudder’s command post back in Ettelbruck was now formed in an arc in front of Diekirch. However, it was a sadly depleted regiment. So far the Volksgrenadier Division 352 was handsomely repaying Colonel Rudder for his audacity on Omaha Beach six months earlier.

2022-01-16(A) Kevin Sanders vs Jason Littleton German winAmericans went hard at the instant win, and got caught out. Some luck with OBA helped the German cause as well.
2018-12-18(A) Tom Kearney vs Lindsey Murillo German win2nd edition version. This went down to the last movement phase. Very close.
2012-05-28(A) Jeff Coleman vs Fred Ingram American win
2012-05-28(D) Fred Ingram vs Jeff Coleman American winSince there were no attacker wins on ROAR, we gave the balance to the Germans (105mm OBA instead of just 75mm).

The best chance to blow the bridge is to use a set DC (roll 8 or less for a success). Unfortunately, it takes at least 3 turns to prepare for this. One turn to get on the bridge. One turn to actually set the DC. Then one turn to move at least 2 hexes away and detonate it during a friendly fire phase (assuming your roll less than your unit size). Jeff tasked the OBA to initially target the 3 assault engineer HS trying to set the DC. After turn 4, the OBA was then used to eliminate Americans who were blocking the way off the board.

The 2 American Shermans did not do much. One was taken out by a PF and the other rolled boxcars while under an ammo shortage and got recalled.

The sheer force of the many Germans as well as the brittle nature of the 6 morale Americans made for an interesting game.

It was a heart breaker for Jeff when we counted up the VP and the end of the game. He had gotten 19 VP of Germans off and 3 American Prisoner squads off for 12 more points. That added up to 31 total points exited (1 more than needed to win). Jeff rechecked the victory conditions and we both were amazed that prisoners did not count. So it ended up an American win. I think allowing prisoners was a better balance than increasing the OBA strength. The 75mm OBA would have probably broke the engineers trying to set the DC's as well.
2003-10-12(D) John Garlic vs Paul Kenny American win[Imported from ROAR]
