Overview:

Part of the Barbarossa plan, the overly-ambitious operation “Siberfuchs” (Silver Fox) aimed at no less than taking Murmansk and some localities south of it on the strategic railroad leading from the Arctic port to the heart of the USSR. It was just one hundred kilometers on the map, but it led through damp and wooded areas, across many streams and very few trails. The central attack groups, with two German divisions, including one Waffen-SS, and the 6th Finnish Division, soon encountered strong resistance. Trying to outflank the defenders, Axis troops finally met with success and arrived, in August, near Alakurtti, one of the largest towns before the railroad. When the Russian defense of the Enianjoki river checked the advance to Alakurtti, Finnish sappers built a bridge five kilometers down the river and fifteen panzers crossed with some infantry. No less than twelve tanks then bogged but the last three gave decisive support to the Finns.
Attacker: Finnish (Jalkaväkirymantti 54 and Panzer Abteilung 211)
Defender: Russian (88th Rifle Division)

2020-05-05(A) manzoli andrea vs Andrea Noia Finnish winReally interesting scenario
Finnish won at the last turn ..with some freezing and a lucky sniper ..
2020-04-30(D) Andrea Noia vs Andrea Manzoli Finnish winLost at the very last Finnish last turn. Very difficult for the Russian to resist for 7 turns to the Finnish tide (all self rallying units, 2 tanks, better leaders). The bridge is just a few hexes away from the set up line. I put a trench just in the open, and it resisted for a while. But when the Finnish broke the line, it was just impossible to resist so many squads. After 5 turns, I tought I could win with no doubts. But the game is long, and finnish are damn powerful.
Probably I would rather put my gun and heavy mortar well behind and push the Finnish to conquer it in the open.
