Overview:

With the Americans closing in on the capital city, General Yamashita had no intention of allowing his troops to be trapped fighting there and so ordered a withdrawal eastward. But Rear-Admiral Sanji Iwabuchi, in command of some 17,000 naval troops stationed in Manila, was not subject to Yamashita's control and was determined to fight to the end. As the American 37th Infantry Division attacked south along the waterfront they encountered fierce resistance at the New Police Station, a multi-story concrete fortress.

2024-06-03(D) Ron Garcia vs Darryl M. Japanese winTough victory conditions for the Americans. As the Japanese, I kept shuffling and skulking squads around to slow the American advance. Once they got a foothold in the building, I advanced units up the stairwells to further impede their movement. More fun for the Americans as they have a lot of tactical decisions to make, but the Japanese defender also needs to make choices (basically, who to sacrifice and when) as they skulk around the sole victory building. Decent scenario, but nothing special.
2023-02-26(D) John Garlic vs Ed Barnes Japanese win[Imported from ROAR]
2020-01-17(A) Ulric Schwela vs Stefano Cuccurullo Japanese winAmerican disaster. Didn't understand how the Rubble counters should be used until the fifth turn! There aren't many different ways of playing this as the American, I tried to be too clever with a three-pronged attack and got bashed by the Japanese. American should concentrate on piling in the FP in the Japanese face, using the wall along the H/I hexrows as cover, and win by attrition as quickly as possible, while denying the Japanese concealment gain with a few units on the sides (this is your only opportunity to vary things a bit). Canister and WP can work wonders, but losing the 9-2 to the Japanese sniper early on didn't help...

1997-02-12(D) Richard Jenulis vs Ivan Jirak American win
